We’ve all heard a lot of news, stories, etc. of the devastation caused by Superstorm Sandy. Many people and companies will likely spend the next several months recuperating from the damage the weather caused. However, some of the danger and inconvenience endured did not have to be so. When such conditions approach, public organizations/officials aim to keep the public safe. To do so, evacuations are often mandatory. Building owners also take measures such as shutting down the elevators and hot water to encourage tenants to evacuate as recommended. In this article, several New York City public housing tenants refused to evacuate. Though no one plan can prepare everyone for such conditions, it is important to at least have a plan.
