Gingerbread elevator puts Chicago hotel guests in holiday mood

What has 308 lb. of pastry dough, 942 gingerbread sticks, 222 lb. of frosting, 178 lb. of sugar and 103 lb. of chocolate? Why, the gingerbread elevator in Chicago’s Trump International Hotel & Tower, of course. The Huffington Post spoke with hotel marketing manager Jennifer Boulos, who said staff of the hotel’s Michelin-rated restaurant 16 (on the 16th floor) used extra amounts of sugar and spices to amplify the Christmas-y smell of gingerbread in the elevator. Other features of the “Gingerbread Express” are a mini train passing overhead and a simulated fireplace with stockings hung and a crackling faux fire.  One may view a video (minus smell) of the elevator in operation at the Huffington Post site.
