Remember our blog a few months ago about an escalator mechanic who found a Tiffany’s diamond engagement ring during routine maintenance? Well, another ring has now been lost in an escalator at the Dupont Circle station of the Washington Metro system. This time it is a US$12,000 family heirloom. Although the ring had not been found as of the date of the article (11/9/11), the maintenance crew worked very hard to try and find it…and the search still continues.
Metro has no estimates of how much staff time and agency resources have been spent to find the ring. “Certainly in the name of customer service, it’s worth it,” Dan Stessel said ( Metro Chief Spokesman).
