MOSCOW: A woman from Krasnoyarsk, Russia, has found a package with 476 small diamonds in the elevator of her house.
Police are currently trying to find the real owner of these diamonds as it is possible that they are of criminal origin.
Diamonds were found in an elevator of a common apartment house in Krasnoyarsk. As she returned home from work, the 34-year old woman noticed a small package with iridescent, transparent stones, and she realized those were precious stones; it was confirmed by a jeweler.
The diamonds were taken to police that is going to carry out an investigation. The director of the Central Siberia Geological Museum, has estimated the total value of these precious stones- 7683 euro (US$10,155).
It’s certainly good to know that this lady was honest and turned the diamonds over to the police. This story is very similar to a two blog posts we previously highlighted. You can find them here and here. With all these diamonds, rings and family heirlooms being found in elevators and escalators I may just have to take a closer look the next time I am riding one. So, what’s the most prized thing that you have ever found by chance?
The most valuable thing I have ever found was when I was 8 years old. I found a silver coin in a field behind my house. It turned out to be a 1928 Peace Silver Dollar (US). It’s current value is about US$500 and I still have the coin today.
