Yes, you read the title of this post correctly — dinners in the sky, 180 feet into the sky to be exact. At least that’s the height one Las Vegas caterer plans to reach. According to the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat, as many as 44 people will be able to dine in the T-shaped structure to be hoisted 180 feet in the air. Of course diners will be strapped/harnessed to their seats for safety. Construction has already begun on the “restaurant” and is expected to open sometime in April.
Though this may seem like a new concept, it has been around for some time now in various places around the world. However, previous designs consisted of a platform that was hoisted into the air via crane (meaning the restaurant could relocate whenever). This new design will be a permanent structure located along the Las Vegas strip and will cost diners an approximate US$290 per meal. Seems like a fair deal to me.
