From The Archives Room

We’ve been very busy with our archives collection lately, and we are happy to say that it is growing! Most recently, we received a Stigler document from 1893 that contains information on the lift installation in the Hotel Kursaal Moloja in Switzerland. A few weeks before that, we received some original Otis stationary from the 1930s. These were like early Christmas presents for us, and we were thrilled to get them. We also have rows upon rows of original early work from George Strakosch, William C. Sturgeon, Charlie Starmer and Robert Schaeffer which we are organizing into collections.

Here at Elevator World, we want to preserve our unique history for future generations. For this purpose, we have an online museum and an archives collection, which are both growing all the time. So, this said, we have a few thoughts. If anyone has some old elevator memorabilia and you’re not sure what to do with it; let us know and we will find it a good home. Don’t send us any actual elevators though. Our little archives room is not big enough to store anything quite so grand. Or, if you just want to come and pore over our collection, we welcome your visit!
