Circa 1900 – This historic photo shows Belgian coal miners packed into an elevator, coming up after a long day of work. Wow, pretty powerful photo.
I can’t imagine being packed so tightly into a rudimentary elevator to be lowered into the bowels of the earth for a long day’s work, and then brought up again at the end of the work day. Those men worked hard to take care of their families. Quite impressive.
